Neo Solar Power is launching a new quasi-mono-based solar cell, said to have a conversion efficiency reaching 18.5% and an average efficiency over 18%. This is the first product NSP has produced using quasi-mono wafers, which is set for rapid adoption across the industry as PV manufacturers focus on efficiency of cells and modules rather than capacity expansions.
The Taiwan-based firm noted that its NeoMono series cells have less cell-to-module loss (CTM Loss) and light induced degradation (LID), compared with conventional monocrystalline cells. The company added that it was working on a complete solution to alleviate PID, which was currently being verified by customers.
“We are pleased that through continuous advancement in new materials and manufacturing process, NSP is able to offer a new product differentiation to the market,” noted Dr. Quincy Lin, chairman of NSP.
The company is currently showcasing the NeoMono cell at the PV EXPO exhibition in Tokyo, Japan
