Solar Fields, the owner of CdTe thin-film module manufacturer Calyxo, will continue to financially support the company through 2012 thanks to Calyxo's new aperture area efficiencies of 13.4%, as confirmed by SGS Germany. The latest improved module performance is said to be the cornerstone of its next-generation module series and potentially improves their market competitiveness in the future.

"With the financial contribution of our long-term shareholder Solar Fields, we will reduce our costs by the end of this year to less than €0.60 per Wp, which corresponds to a cost reduction of nearly 30 percent from the recent level," remarked Florian Holzapfel, Calyxo’s CEO.

Currently, Calyxo produces its CX3-series module to an average of 11.9% efficiency, based on aperture area figures from its 25MWp production line in Bitterfeld / Wolfen-Thalheim, Germany.
