Phoenix Solar has secured two new contracts of one MWp each in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat states, India. The projects were signed with Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd in Singapore, its Asia Pacific subsidiary. Both PV projects will use thin film technologies. Both projects are scheduled to be connected to the grid by 31 December, 2011.

Phoenix Solar Singapore has teamed with local company Alectrona Energy to jointly supply and install a one MWp system in Tamil Nadu for Great Shine Holdings, a subsidiary of Zynergy Projects and Services.

The project was said to be employing approximately 9,000 copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin-film modules from MiaSolé, and use SMA inverters. The plant is also expected to feed over 1,600 megawatt hours a year into the National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC) grid and was funded under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), with a PPA of INR 18.45/kWh (€0.29/kWh) for 25 years.

The other project will employ 13,000, First Solar CdTe thin-film modules and also use SMA inverters. The project will be undertaken in collaboration with Chemtrols

Solar for a project in the state of Gujarat, India.

The plant is expected to feed 1,600 megawatt hours per year into the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) grid, with a PPA of INR 15/kWh (€0.24/kWh) for years 1-12, and INR 5 (€0.08/kWh) for years 13-25.
