Masdar PV is to supply thin-film modules for three new solar installations in Slovakia. All three systems will have a capacity of 1MW and module installation, which is being carried out by Hungarian system integrator Raabvill Kft., is scheduled to begin by the end of the month.
The partnership presents Masdar with the opportunity to break into the burgeoning Central and Eastern Europe solar market and Raabvill has already agreed to buy a further 3MW of modules. “We see this initial large order as the prelude to a successful and long-lasting partnership between Masdar PV and our company,” Raabvill’s Peter Krupanszky said.
“In Raabvill Kft. we have a highly-experienced and successful partner with very good contacts, particularly with Eastern European investors and government agencies,” said Matthias Peschke, Masdar’s chief operating officer.
With a surface are of nearly 6m2, Masdar’s modules enable considerable system cost reductions through a reduction in the number of inverters and amount of cabling. “Our 5.7 m?? large full-size modules require fewer inverters and less cable for installation – so set-up and maintenance costs are lower. That creates unmistakable advantages for our customers and we expect the demand for our full-size modules to continue increasing for that reason,” Peschke added.
